2021 A Year For Home Renovation

Now that you’re either in the process of or just organizing your New Year resolutions, did your home make it on that list? When it comes to a home renovation, it’s no easy task. There’s plenty of planning to take into consideration. It’s best to take things slow as well. You don’t want over half of the essential rooms in your home getting remodeled all at the same time. So, let’s break down the things to consider so that you can plan out how to take on a total renovation in 2021.

Kitchen Renovation

When trying to decide on which renovation to take on first, we always prefer the largest one at hand. Starting with your kitchen may be the best bet. If you’re a home cooker, then this is an absolute must. Your kitchen is the heart and soul of your home. It’s where you have guests gather to have a laugh or bring in the family to help you bake for the holidays. Or even where you get some time to yourself to cook up a delicious meal. Either way, we spend a lot of our time in our kitchens. So, why not make it the best and most accessible room in your home? Stumbling over small countertops or stuffing things into tiny cabinets just won’t do any longer.

Kitchen Island

If your home has space, a kitchen island can change your cooking and preparation game forever. It may seem as if you’re making less room. However, it’s quite the opposite. A kitchen island can create more cabinet space along with more countertop space. It’s also great if you have kids and need to keep an eye on them while cooking. Having those seats there can give them a little workstation to keep you company or help you prep food. There’s honestly no downfall to adding an island into your kitchen renovation plans. It can also help clear up other cabinets by having a hanging pan display above your island.

Updated Cabinets

Space has to land on top of things to consider when renovating your kitchen. New cabinet placement and types can have all sorts of benefits that you may not have realized previously.

One of the first things homeowners notice in their homes was the height of the cabinets, and how much wasted space there was due to the height. Making them more accessible has done so much in terms of actually using my cabinet space. It can help clear out room in your pantry and give you room to expand your glassware. Also, if you have an island with cabinets installed it can do even more. It’s best to have more space than in need of more space in the kitchen.

Bathroom Renovation

Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. It’s where you put yourself together every morning. Your personal bathroom should reflect you and be a space that gives your comfort and confidence. Make your bathroom a relaxing place that’s ideal for your routines. If you have a guest bathroom, that’s where you want to have guests feel comfortable and clean. So, aside from cleanliness, what can you do to your bathroom to make it bigger and better?

Shower/Tub Renovation

This may come as a surprise, but choosing your bathing layout can make or break your bathroom. We now see more showers and baths separate than ever before. It takes up more space this way but makes your plumbing more efficient and bathroom cleaner. If you have the space, and actually take baths, then this is a great option. However, if your bathtub has sat there with little to no use, maybe it’s time to get rid of it. Having a shower where you have space and can deck it out with windows instead of a curtain certainly looks better. Finding a way to save water should be a top concern not only for your bills but also from an environmental standpoint.

Other Bathroom Considerations

Aside from major moves like your shower and tub, think about the rest of your bathroom. How does the light hit? Do you need more cabinet space or just an added medicine cabinet? How well does the ventilation work in your bathroom? Little things like this can go a long way in a bathroom and can shape what you intend to do with it.
